PINS has been operating as a telecommunications company for 25+ years, and currently offers a full range of voice, data and Internet products and services.
Although originally founded to serve the needs of not-for-profit organizations, the PINS client base long ago expanded beyond the not-for-profit sector. However, the philosophy and mission that brought the original Public Interest company into existence, continues to guide it today.
We purchase telecommunication services in bulk from several of the Tier 1 providers. From this pool of resources, we configure and manage the combination of voice, data and Internet services that best meets the needs of each client. Every aspect of the services offered is managed by PINS engineers with decades of experience spanning three generations of telephone and data technology, and with client support provided by a dedicated team of on-site technicians and staff.
PINS is a true competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC), as well as a Verizon reseller. Our client telephone calls and Internet traffic travel through PINS routers and a dedicated telephone switch located at the PINS primary facility at 50 West 17th Street. Our on-site telecommunications equipment is connected to the external world via three different fiber networks to multiple carriers for voice calls, and multiple Tier-1 Internet backbone operators, providing multiple paths of redundancy for our clients to reduce downtime. We have a dedicated gas turbine that provides power and cooling for our on-site equipment and are protected against power failure by the ability to switch on demand to NYC ConEd power, as well as by a full-scale UPS.
